Square Online fees, worked out per order and per month.
Square Online comes with Square's three plans: Square Free at $0, Square Plus at $49, and Square Premium at $149 a month per location. Online card payments are 3.3% + 30¢ on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus and Premium, and gift cards add a 2.5% load fee on Free and Plus. A store on its own domain needs at least Plus, so 50 orders of $40 cost $122.00 a month in Square fees. The same month on Flint, with no monthly fee, is $93.50.

What a $40-order store pays each month.
Three small online stores, each selling $40 orders on US cards: 20, 50, and 100 orders a month. Square's column is Plus, the lowest plan that connects your own domain and sells subscriptions on your site, with Premium beside it. Flint has no plan to pick.

Flint, per order. $40 × 3.79% = $1.52, plus 35¢, is $1.87. Flint rounds half up to the cent once per payment. There is no monthly fee, so the month is the orders times $1.87.
Square Plus, per order. $40 × 2.9% = $1.16, plus 30¢, is $1.46. Add $49 for the plan, every month, per location. Premium charges the same 2.9% + 30¢ online and $149 for the plan.
Where they meet. Square’s per-order fee is $0.41 lower, and its plan is the difference. At $40 an order, Flint’s month costs less than Plus up to 119 orders, about $4,760 in sales, and less than Premium up to 363 orders.
What isn’t counted. Flint doesn’t host a website, so these months compare the cost of selling. Square’s plan includes its site builder; on Flint you sell from the site you already have, by link, or by QR code. The difference above is what is left for the site.
Checkout on your own domain. Flint’s custom domain puts checkout and the buyer account on your hostname, such as pay.yourshop.com, for $15 a month. With it, the 20-order and 50-order months still cost less than Plus.
Sales tax. Neither column includes tax. If Flint calculates your sales tax, that adds 0.50% of each taxed payment.

Gift cards, subscriptions, and domains, priced.
In October 2025 Square replaced 18 à la carte subscriptions with its three plans, so each of these jobs now costs a plan, a fee, or both. Here is each one worked out against Flint.
Selling a $50 eGift card
Square charges a 2.5% load fee on the amount loaded on Free and Plus, on top of processing on the sale. On Flint, a gift card is a product, and selling one is a card payment at the card rate.

40 members at $30 a month
Subscriptions on a Square Online site need Plus or Premium. On Flint, a subscription plan sells from a link, and renewals carry a 0.40% add-on with no plan.

Your domain
Connecting a custom domain to a Square Online site needs Plus or Premium, and Square sells domains from $19.95 a year. Square Free publishes on a free subdomain. With Flint your domain stays with your site, and checkout on your own hostname is an optional $15 a month.
Invoices
Square bills invoice card payments at its online rate, 3.3% + 30¢ on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus, and keeps payment schedules, batch invoices, and custom templates for Plus. Flint invoices carry 0.40% on top of the card rate on every account, with reminders and late fees set in the dashboard.

07Selling with Flint

Everything below is done in the Flint dashboard, sizes and stock counts included. A developer or an AI builder can also build a storefront on Flint.

Add what you sell
Create products with their prices and photos in the Flint dashboard, and add sizes or colors as variants, each with its own stock count. A gift card is a product too: pick Gift card and set its value, or turn on Let buyers choose the value and set a minimum and maximum.

Set delivery
Under Delivery setup, add flat or regional shipping rates, local delivery, or pickup at your shop.

Make a link
Make a payment link for a product, a set of products, or a subscription plan. For a product in sizes, choose Let buyers choose. Add a discount code field if you run promotions. Tracked stock ends a limited run on its own, or cap it with the link's payment limit.

Put it where buyers are
Paste the link behind a Buy button on the site you already have, in your Instagram bio, or in a text, or print its QR code for the counter.

Run the orders
Every payment becomes an order in the dashboard. Fulfill it, refund it, handle returns, and export orders as a CSV file for your books.

How much does Square Online cost?

What is the difference between Square Online Plus and Premium?
Premium costs $100 more a month per location and charges the same 2.9% + 30¢ on online card payments. For an online store, it adds real-time shipping rates, no gift card load fee, 2,500 texts a month instead of 500, 24/7 phone support, and advanced reporting. The load fee savings cover Premium's extra cost only once you sell $4,000 of gift cards a month.
Can I use my own domain on Square Online for free?
No. Connecting a custom domain needs Square Plus or Premium, from $49 a month per location, and Square sells domains from $19.95 a year. Square Free publishes your site on a free subdomain. Flint doesn't host your site, so your domain stays wherever your site is; Flint's optional custom domain, $15 a month, puts checkout and the buyer portal on your own hostname.

A developer or an AI builder can also build a storefront on the Flint API.
Can I keep Square for in-person sales?
Yes. Flint takes online and in-app payments and doesn't sell card readers, so in-store sales stay on your point of sale while your online orders, gift cards, and subscriptions run on Flint.
